Progress Report 1

The following parts of RecipesWiki are now complete

  • Main Page: except Templates (Vorlagen) for Recipe of the month and Requests for recipes. (I don't know how to generate a template)
  • Help: except generating a sandbox. I have translated the main Help page from german as well as the acceleratror keys page. The rest of the help pages are either copied from Wikepedia or linked to the relevant Wikepedia help pages.
  • About RecipesWiki is mostly translated from german.
  • Disclaimers is taken from (cc) creative commons, Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5.

It is possible to generate a new recipe, except there is no proper recipe template (Vorlage) yet.

Progress Report 2

  • All Help pages are either translated or linked to relevant Wikipedia Help pages. All links work.
  • I have implemented a sandbox similar to the way it is implemented in Rezepte-Wiki. It is just a page called Sandbox and will appear for every user with the contents left by some one else - BETTER WOULD BE TO HAVE A USER SPECIFIC SANDBOX.
  • I have transposed the paragraphs in About, so that Recipe is dealt with first and Wiki later - since recipes are the primary article dealt with and Wiki is just the framework. This is also the order in the site name. It will help the many users who are primarily interested in cooking, who may baulk if hit first by the intricacies of Wikis - not everybody is computer literate. Links to these paragraphs have been put in the article Welcome to RecipesWiki! on the main page. All the links in the About page have been resolved.
  • I have extended the paragraph Recipe to go into details of Metric, American and British measures and have added a note about self raising flour, which is very important for cooks from anglo-saxon countries. (European cooks please take note).
  • Several Ingredients from the plum cake recipe have been generated. There seems to be a mistake in the statistics software - it reports 16 Recipes, although there is in fact only 1 recipe. The "Main Page" is counted as a recipe (This happens in the german version also) and the 5 ingredients I have added are also counted (not in the german version). All these pages pop up with "Random page". !!! HILFE !!!
  • The "navigation/alphindex" menu entry in the tool bar points to an article "Alphindex-url" ???. It would be better to call this menu entry "Recipes A to Z" to be consistent with the german sister site.
  • I still have not worked out how a page acquires an index. Will have to study the MediaWiki Help.
  • I have not worked out how to manipulate templates. More study

Neverthesless I feel it may be possible to free the page for other users, if the 3 line list at the top of the recipe template is complete (see Talk:Plum_cake) and the template is correctly linked when the "Create Recipe" button is pressed on the main page. If this is done before Tuesday 23.01.06 midday, I will be able to translate the template still.
